Course Content:

• Introduction to Fire Safety: Overview of fire safety principles, including the fire triangle (heat, fuel, and oxygen), and the importance of fire prevention in healthcare settings.
• Fire Legislation and Responsibilities: Understanding relevant fire safety legislation, including the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, and the roles and responsibilities of staff in maintaining fire safety.
• Fire Prevention Measures: Training on effective fire prevention strategies, such as controlling ignition sources, managing hazardous materials, and maintaining clear escape routes.
• Understanding Fire Risks in Healthcare: Exploration of the unique fire risks associated with healthcare environments, including the use of medical gases, electrical equipment, and the presence of immobile patients.
• Use of Fire Safety Equipment: Practical instruction on the correct use of fire safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, fire blankets, and alarm systems, with guidance on choosing the right equipment for different types of fires.
• Evacuation Procedures: Detailed guidance on safe and effective evacuation procedures, including how to assist patients with mobility issues, and the importance of clear communication and teamwork during an emergency.
• Emergency Response Planning: Development of emergency response plans tailored to specific healthcare settings, ensuring that staff are prepared to act swiftly and effectively in the event of a fire.
• Post-Incident Procedures: Training on the necessary steps to take following a fire incident, including reporting, debriefing, and reviewing fire safety protocols to prevent future occurrences.

Learning Outcomes: By the end of the Fire Safety Awareness Training Course, participants will be able to:
